Activities of Institute, ordained in provision of law:

1. execution of official authority ordained in surveying and mapping provision of law;
2. surveying and mapping research. Furthermore, harmonisation of other surveying and mapping researches going on Hungary;
3. processing remote sensed data and images;
4. establishing and maintaining of surveying, mapping and geographical mapping database;
5. operational cosmic geodetic observing;
6. execution and control of harmony of registered surveying and mapping activities;
7. management of national surveying and mapping tasks subsidised by the State and - with the exception of cadastral maps - State undertaking of finished tasks;
8. management of National Register of Surveyors;
9. permanent and periodic preparation of surveying and mapping publications, as well as storage, registration and presentation of technical books and documentations.

Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing (FÖMI) is a provincial research institute under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture (FM). During its official, operational and research-development activities, the Institute established and preserves widespread national and international connections.

• Department of Surveying and Estate Re-Allocation, College Faculty of the University of Forestry and Wood Industry
• Laboratory of Geodynamics of the Eötvös Loránd University, Budapest.

Major Geo-Information Projects and References:

In three digital mapping and Geo-Information tenders of the National Committee for Technological Development FÖMI bid successfully and is working on three projects:

1. Creation of product standards of digital maps and calibration technologies, connection to the network of Land Offices and starting of services joined with it. 1993-1995.
2. Development of base of national industrial crop areal, conditional monitoring and yield estimation information system, in accordance with systems operating in EU countries and starting of the connected services. 1993-1995.
3. Infrastructural and methodological development of national conditions of application of GPS technologies. 1993-1995.

• CORINE (Computerised Information System of the Natural Values of Europe), Production of a standardised map series for the program of environment protection from SPOT images to the 1:100 000 or 1:50 000 scale;
