. It is focused on the history of the abridged versions and a
perspective on their role in the market. Many of you are aware that
Michael is the head of the University of Virginia's Rare Book School.
Ortelius' work is the first segment of the talk, lasting about 7
minutes. The discussion of the abridged versions of Cook's works is at
roughly 38 minutes into the talk. There are a number of other
works--unrelated to maps and voyages--discussed with respect to the
overall theme of abridgements and their place in an expanding market.
