Some may be interested to learn about five papers on 'Re-discovered Maps
of East and South-East Asia' in a session organised by Vera
Dorofeeva-Lichtmann and Martin Hofmann at the 14th International
Conference on the History of Science in East Asia, 6-10 July 2015 at
EHESS in Paris.
For the respective abstracts see pages 53-7 of the online Book of Abstracts:
http://14ichsea.sciencesconf.org/
Pages 186-8, feature the abstracts of six papers in the session
'Knowledge of China’s sea-space by practitioners'.
It is often the case that interesting developments are taking place in
map history outside the history of cartography conferences.
I owe this information to Vera Dorofeeva-Lichtman. It would be useful
if others who present papers about early maps, or related topics, in
subject-specialist forums would post the details to this list.
Where this produces publications, the Imago Mundi Bibliographer, Nick
Millea (nick.millea at bodleian.ox.ac.uk), would like to have the details,
and, when a conference is involved, John Docktor (docktor at earthlink.net)
would be glad to hear from you.
