This thrice-yearly journal with articles on maps, the history of
cartography, and exploration is the only journal of its kind in the
Americas.   Below is information on the Fall 2018 issue recently published

ISSUE 102 (FALL 2018)

Issue 102 (Fall 2018), consisting of 84 pages, was published in August 2018
and is in distribution to all paid subscribers and print-issue members in
good standing of the Washington Map Society.  Copies are available for
purchase.

MARIANNE McKEE traces the mapping of Richmond, Virginia. LESLIE COURTOIS
describes the exacting work of a conservator.  K. MEHMET KENTEL reveals
cartographic fun on British geographical board games. PETER MEURER describes
fragments of three multisheet Rosselli maps. JOHN HESSLER details the
extreme value of a new central American map in the collection at the Library
of Congress.  Five books are reviewed.  And there is more.

cartography of Greece and the Mediterranean

K. MEHMET KENTEL, a Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Washington, is the
recipient of Honorable Mention for the WMS's 2017 Dr. Walter Ristow Prize
for Academic Achievement in the History of Cartography. 

JOEL KOVARSKY, the author of "The True Geography of Our Country: Jefferson's
Cartographic Vision (University of Virginia Press, 2014)", for many years
has been the proprietor of The Prime Meridian: Antique Maps & Books.

LEIGH LOCKWOOD is webmaster of the WMS.

MARIANNE M. McKEE, a past President of the WMS and co-editor of "Virginia in
Maps", served for a number of years as the Map Specialist at the Library of
Virginia.

HAROLD MEINHEIT is Secretary of the Washington Map Society.

ROBERT MORRIS is Cartographic Acquisitions Specialist, Geography and Map
Division, Library of Congress.

PETER H. MEURER, Dr. rer. nat., has headed several research projects at the
Universities of Cologne, Duisburg and Trier as well as in cooperation with
private collectors. He is the author of more than 150 publications on
pre-1700 history of cartography mainly in Germany and the Low Countries. 

ED REDMOND is Immediate Past President of the Washington Map Society.

THOMAS SANDER is Editor of "The Portolan"

WILLIAM C. WOOLDRIDGE, the author of "Mapping Virginia:  From the Age of
Exploration to the Civil War", has given cartographic history presentations
