The Rocky Mountain Map Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the
study and appreciation of maps and other items of cartographic interest. The
Society was formed in 1991 and is based in Denver, Colorado.

This program is free and open to the community 

	
This is a presentation of the military maps of Camp Hale in Colorado, and
visit to the combat areas in Italy where the 10th Mountain Division fought.
Attendees will see how the terrain affected both the construction of the
camp, and the combat operations in the field.  Examples may show troop
movements, opposing forces and terrain obstacles.

 

David J. Little is the Secretary of the Tenth Mountain Division Foundation.
He has been a military historian for the 10th Mountain Division for more
than 30 years.  These soldiers - the WWII ski troopers - drove the growth of
the ski industry in Colorado after WWII.  Mr. Little has studied the history
and documents of these soldiers for more than 35 years, and has been a
consultant to museums and libraries around the world, including DPL, History
Colorado, National Archives and the U.S. Army.
