Chris Lane

Map Month 2018

5:30 PM, Conference Room B2 Denver Public Library

This program is free and open to the community

The French and Indian War, a distant part of the wider Seven Years War, was
of great interest to Europeans. Political maps, battle maps and maps of
forts and other military sites, were issued as separate sheets, in atlases
and in "gentleman's magazines." This lecture will chronicle these maps,
giving us a look at how contemporary Europeans understood the events across
the Atlantic.

Christopher W. Lane is the owner of the Philadelphia Print Shop West, a
Denver antique map and print gallery. In his over three decades in the
business, Chris has written many catalogues, articles and books on related
topics, including on his particular interest in cartographic myths. Chris
has lectured widely, including several series of talks at the Denver Public
Library. He has appeared for 20 years as a map and print expert on PBS's
Antiques Roadshow.
