[ISHMap-List] Prestigious Award to Elri Liebenberg Chair of the ICA commission on the history of cartography

  You will be delighted  to know that  the South African Academy of 
Science and the Arts (Die Suid-Afrikaanse Akademie vir Wetenskap en 
Kuns) has awarded the prestigious Stals Prize to Prof Liebenberg for her 
research as map historian and her contribution towards the advancement 
of geography in South Africa.
  A friend writes that "She was totally taken by surprise as she is not 
even a member of the Academy."
