Dear colleagues,

The Department of Geoinformatics at Palacký University Olomouc invites you and your students to the International Spring School on Visualization<https://www.geoinformatics.upol.cz/iss/>, which will take place online via Zoom on April 1–2, 2025. This year's theme, Seeing Through Lies: Mapping Trust in the Age of Misinformation, focuses on truth, lies, and disinformation from the perspective of data visualization.

The event will feature a range of engaging presentations. The keynote speaker will be Georg Gartner, President of the International Cartographic Association (ICA). Other speakers include Ian Muehlenhaus from Esri USA, Francis Harvey and Eric Losang from Leipzig, Timothy Prestby from Penn State University, and Alena Vondráková from the host institution.

The event has an interdisciplinary focus, extending beyond cartography to visualization in general. Attendees can look forward to contributions from psychologist Petra Hypšová and political scientist Jakub Lysek. Nili Steinfeld from Israel will discuss eye-tracking and digital literacy, Gabriela Godišková from Masaryk University in Brno will explore the (mis)use of graphs, and Robert Moro from KINIT will address the role of AI in the production of disinformation.

The participation fee is €70. Students can earn 3 ECTS credits for attending. Early registration is recommended!
