[Ica-sdistandards] Day of the Cartographer

Dear Colleagues of the ICA Committee on Standards and SDI,

Today is the Day of the Cartographer in Brazil. On 6 May 1500, five days
after Brazil was discovered by the Portuguese Pedro Alvarez Cabral, the
coordinates of the Cabralia Bay were calculated. This date was chosen by the
Brazilian Cartographic Society to render homage to this important
professional.

In the website of the ICA there is an indication that there is no
international day:

In any case, please accept my congratulations in this day. You will see
attached a banner for the day and the memorandum issued by the Brazilian
Hydrographic Service for the day (in Portuguese).
