Maxar is a commercial company which develops, owns and operates a fleet of very high-resolution Earth imaging satellites which take images 24 hours a day, in wavelengths ranging from visible to the short-wave infrared. In this talk, Dr. Newbury will give examples of how Maxar's imagery is used for an ever-increasing set of applications, including disaster relief, disease eradication, and the basis for the maps we all carry on our smartphones.

Dr. Newbury is a Director and Aerospace Fellow at DigitalGlobe, a Maxar Technologies company. She received a PhD in Physics from Princeton University. For the past eight years Dr. Newbury has been at DigitalGlobe, working extensively on the suite of imagers on the Worldview-3 satellite. She is currently the Chief Instrument Engineer for the Legion constellation slated to launch in the 2021 timeframe, and continues to explore future satellite missions aligned with Maxar's purpose to "Build a better world".
