The Rocky Mountain Map Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the
study and appreciation of maps and other items of cartographic interest. The
Society was formed in 1991 and is based in Denver, Colorado.

The 2018 Annual Meeting of the Society for the History of Discoveries will
be at the Colorado School of Mines, in partnership with the Rocky Mountain
Map Society. The RMMS pre-conference, Golden Quest: Mapping the Stampedes,
(free to SHD and RMMS Members) will take place on Thursday, September 20th
at the Geology Museum, before the opening reception of the SHD conference on
Thursday evening. The Exhibition of the Colorado Gold Rush History, a
world-famous collection of geological specimens as well as maps of the West
will be on display in the Geology Museum. 

SHD's conference program follows on Friday and Saturday morning at the Ben
H. Parker Student Center. The theme of the 2018 SHD Annual Meeting is Great
Mountains of the American West. Our keynote speaker at the SHD Banquet on
Friday evening will be Dr. Susan Schulten, Department of History, University
of Denver. 

On Sunday September 23rd, following the conference, there will be a guided
bus tour of some of the original mountain mining districts west of Golden.
This tour will include all transportation, a visit to the Red Rocks
Amphitheatre, a box lunch, a ride on the historic Georgetown Loop Railroad,
and a tour of the old Lebanon Silver Mine. Advance registration is required.
