The aim of these pages is not to expose certain newspapers and mapmakers. We would like to remind readers of the fact that making media maps needs just the same accuracy and care as all other maps.
We can find lot of mistakes in daily newspapers. Sometimes they have only few hours to complete their maps because the corresponding event happens only some hours before. The daily newspapers published for more educated readership usually contain much more maps than tabloids.
The presence of mistakes are rare in periodical newspapers such as journals and magazines because they have more time to deal with maps or they ask professional cartographers to make their maps.
