South China Sea
The South China Sea is situated between the Asian continent, the Philippines and Borneo. It has only
fairly narrow connections with the other parts of the world ocean.
There are very large shelf areas in the South China Sea. The shelves of the southern half of the sea
are parts of the Sunda Shelf. The shelves support a lot of coral reefs.
There are also broad continental slopes. The deep parts of the sea form a single basin.
