Andaman Sea
The Andaman Sea is bordered by Burma, Thailand, Malaysia, Sumatra and the Andaman and Nicobar
Islands. The ridge that supports these islands is situated in a depth less than 2000 metres. The depth of the
central region of the Andaman Sea exceeds 4000 metres. So I classified the Andaman Sea as an
independent sea.
The three basic forms are all present in the Andaman Sea. The western part of the sea is a deep basin,
the eastern part is a broad shelf. There is a broad continental slope between these areas.
