Baltic Sea
The Baltic Sea is an area between the Scandinavian Peninsula, Finland and Central Europe. It
includes the Gulf of Bothnia and the Gulf of Finland.
The Baltic Sea is almost entirely isolated from the Central Ocean. The only connections between
them are the narrow straits between Denmark and Sweden.
Only a very little part of the sea is deeper than 200 metres. Because of this and of geological reasons, I
classify the whole area as shelf. I do not divide the area into regions.
