Dear Friends, Colleagues, and
Visitors!
The Hungarian organizers are
very sorry to inform you that the
International Committee for the History of Nautical Science cancelled
the Reunion in Veszprém.
President Francisco
Domingues sent us an
e-mail from Lisbon and explained that the Commission had to
cancel the meeting in Veszprém, Hungary, due to a very short
number of registered participants.
The 2010 meeting, however, will be
held El
Ferrol,
Spain, between the 4th and the 6th November, 2010. For more
information, please, visit the CIHN web site.
The
organization of this
international symposium may raise financial questions for some of you:
participants should pay the registration fee (first time in the history
of these meetings), and cover the costs of their travel to and stay in
Hungary. (For more details, please see the Registration
page.) Moreover, the number of registered participants must reach a
minimum, otherwise the organizers can not cover the costs of the
academic program.
For these reasons and for the
considerable delay the Commission has sent a circular to its members
and asked them to indicate if they would register or not for the
symposium. Responses to this survey must be sent electronically to them
by March 20, 2010. (Please, feel free to send a message them
even if if you are not yet a member of CIHC.)
Based
on the result the Board
of the Commission will make a decision regarding the 15th reunion. If
they
can see your strong interest in the proposed symposium they will
commission
responsible person(s) to represent them and act as local organizer(s)
in Hungary.
Please, see the program,
consider the costs and send your reply to CIHC as soon as possible!
Registration information and
symposium fees are available from here!

Deadlines
for submissions and have been changed to April 25, 2010! We
apologize for the
delay and inconvenience but hope to
see you this September in Hungary!
