Veszprém county's President

Veszprém county is one of Hungary's best known areas. The reason for it may be the Northern coastal region of Lake Balaton, which is a popular holiday resort, and the Bakony Mountains are situated here with their natural beauty and tourist attractions. These circumstences provide a good basis for the sport orienteering as well as for the organization of a good championship.
We welcome competitors, coaches and guests from all over the world to our country come back to us in the future. Veszprém county is waiting for you.

by László Dióssy
Mayor of Veszprém

I am glad to welcome the participants of the 10th World University Orienteering Championships on behalf of Veszprém, town of county rank. Veszprém, during its history, has always been open to the world and always desired to be integrated within the European culture. Now, when the Hungarian Nation wishes to fulfill its old desire to become a member of the developed World and Europe, the citizens of Veszprém consider it very important that our city should set a good example in international sports relationships too.
