Maps

The maps are printed to scale 1:15 000 for both competitions. The contour interval is 5 m, the field-work is done in 1998. The map of the model event is drawn to the same standards as the competition maps. The size of the maps is A4 and they will be handed out in plastic cover at both competitions.

Model Event

A small typical terrain will have typical controls set up prior to competitions. Maps of this terrain will be issued to teams on arrival. This terrain shows the characteristics of the terrain used for individual and relay competitions of YM. There you can see the control equipments too.

Punching system

Each control will be identified with number code.
Controls will be equiped with traditional punches (no electronic punching system). The control cards are made of plastic so they are waterproof.

Start

The start of the individual competition will be combined with pre-start. The competitor enters the first dock 3 minutes before his/her start time. You take your map at the moment of time start. The distance of the start of individual competition is 1900 m from the finish area. The start interval is 3 minutes for all classes. Before 09:45 all the competitors have to check in to a closed area laying 800 m before the start. Warm up area, water and tent will be provided for the waiting competitors.

Team leaders' meeting

There will be team leaders' meeting at 19:00 on 26th June. At that meeting all necessary information concerning the competitions will be given and questions will be answered. The following material will be handed out: start lists, number bibs, control cards, control descriptions.

Terrains

Idividual

The terrain of the individual competition is moderately hilly. Most of the area is decidous forrest but there are some parts with coniferous trees. Runnability is quite good. Partly there are a lot of ground features as small reentrants and ditches. In the major parts of the terrain there are only a few paths.

Relay

The terrain of the relay is quite flat. It is covered with mixed forest. The terrain is tougher to get through and runnability is more limited, there is slowing undergrowth. The path network is very dense, there are a lot of left, indistinct paths. In the whole terrain there are many man-made features as pits, boundary stones, dry ditches and small objects.
