Wind of change: poster instead of competition

Dear orienteering friends,

on November 19, 2004, the region of High Tatras in Slovakia was swept down by a horrible windstorm. Athough after the southeast Asia tsunami catastrophe we do not like using the same strong word for what happenned in High Tatras, it was nevertheless a sudden stroke/blow which made us quite sad: in particular, the orienteering club TJ Cingov Spisska Nova Ves has already done a lot of work, including the maps, for the traditional international 3-days event Grand Prix Slovakia (GPS) 2005.
Now orienteering in the beautiful glacial moraine terrains of High Tatras will be hardly possible for years (some pictures on http://ob-kobra.sk/fotky/4_tatry/index.htm). In spite of this, we took the decision to let print (CMYK+brown) the maps to share our experience of beauty and ferocity of nature with you.
Please click on (little bit coarse) preview to see whether you will like our idea. The maps in 1:10.000 on an A2 poster cover - in two pieces - a continuous area and can be assembled accordingly. Moreover, the poster(s) can be cut into puzzle or pexeso (memory game) pieces - detailed information provided on the poster.
You can order the poster at slovakia@orienteering.sk. It will be sent to you two times folded in an A4 envelope by standard post. The proposed (and expected:) minimum sum by which you can help to recover losses in organizing GPS 2005 and support the future mapmaking and youth training activities of orienteering club TJ Cingov Spisska Nova Ves is:

- EUR 6 (covering post fees as well) for a single poster
- EUR 4/poster (covering post fees as well) for two and more posters at once

The mode of payment will be given in reply to your order.

The GPS 2005 shall take place in Slovak Karst National Park on Silica Plateau from July 29 to 31. There you will have the opportunity to get non-folded posters.
