- Our Approach for OCAD in the Cloud</STRONG></FONT></P>
<P style="COLOR: black"><FONT face=Verdana>OCAD Ltd is moving its
cartographic software into a next generation. The latest edition of the
OCAD product family is called "OCAD 11 Enterprise". It introduces
"client-server architecture" to the current known OCAD Professional
environment: Multiple users are able to work simultaneously on a map
project regardless of their place of work.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>The "client-server architecture" of OCAD 11
Enterprise is based on the PostgreSQL server system, which can be
installed on local or hosted servers. The OCAD software has been visually
extended by adding a new "client toolbar". It enables to store maps in the
database system and edit it. The minor change for current OCAD users is
that they first have to download the map objects from the server and
checking out map objects before editing. The last locks the object to the
member of the map project to prevent unintended simultaneous editing of
the same object.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>After two years of intensive development we feel
ready to present you our "client-server architecture" for OCAD software.
In conjunction with this solution we enhance OCAD to fulfill another
customer wish: assign different sets of symbols to one single base map
geometry. This means, with OCAD 11 Enterprise you are able to update for
example either a hiking or a bike map by editing the common map geometry
only once.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>The "client-server architecture" project is a huge
milestone for OCAD Ltd. It now enhances the stand-alone software into
multi user software in the cloud, accessible from anywhere. OCAD 11
Enterprise edition enhances the functionality of OCAD 11 Professionalis.
The new edition is available with a minimum of 3 named user licenses. The
price for 3 new licenses is EUR 3800 with an annual update and support fee
of EUR 950 from the 2nd year.<BR></FONT><FONT face=Verdana><A

kartographische Software in eine neue Dimension. Die jüngste Edition aus
der Produktfamilie von OCAD heisst "OCAD 11 Enterprise". Sie führt die
"Client-Server-Architektur" in die bereits bekannte OCAD-Umgebung ein:
Mehrere Benutzer können gleichzeitig auf ein Kartenprojekt zugreifen,
unabhängig von ihrem Arbeitsort.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Die "Client-Server-Architektur" von OCAD 11
Enterprise basiert auf dem PostgreSQL-Server-System, welches sowohl auf
lokalen wie auch gehosteten Servern installiert werden kann. Die Software
OCAD wurde visuell durch das Hinzufügen einer neuen "Client-Symbolleiste"
erweitert. Diese ermöglicht es, die Karte im Datenbank-System zu speichern
und zu bearbeiten. Aktuelle Nutzer von OCAD müssen sich lediglich daran
gewöhnen, dass sie zuerst die Kartenobjekte vom Server herunterladen und
das zu bearbeitende Kartenobjekt auschecken müssen. Letzteres sperrt das
Kartenobjekt für sämtliche anderen Mitglieder des Kartenprojekts, um
dessen unbeabsichtigte Bearbeitung zu verhindern.</FONT></P>
<P><FONT face=Verdana>Nach zwei Jahren intensiver Entwicklungsarbeit
fühlen wir uns bereit, Ihnen unsere "Client-Server-Architektur" für OCAD
zu präsentieren. In Verbindung mit dieser Lösung, erfüllen wir einen
weiteren Kundenwunsch: Verschiedene Symbolsätze einer einzigen
Basiskarten-Geometrie zuzuweisen. Dies bedeutet, dass mit OCAD 11
Enterprise Sie nun in der Lage sind, sowohl eine Wander- wie auch Radkarte
nachzuführen, indem Sie die gemeinsame Kartengeometrie nur einmal
nachführen.</FONT></P>
