<p style="text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri", sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">At present, humanity faces the challenge of meeting society’s needs sustainably without compromising the chances of
future generations’ ability to meet theirs. Sustainable development is an interdisciplinary challenge that concerns the environment, public health, and the economy. The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda are a
call to action for all countries. Scientists and spatial data stakeholders around the world utilize geographic information systems and cartography to develop plans and policies for sustainability. GISs are the ultimate tool to model, design, and analyze sustainable
processes at scales ranging from local to global. At the same time, cartography supplies the visualization and maps that communicate sustainability tactics to scientists and citizens; it holds a key role in educating and raising awareness about sustainability
in society.</span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify; margin: 0cm 0cm 10pt;"><span style="font-family: "Calibri", sans-serif; font-size: 11pt; color: rgb(0, 0, 0);">This Special Issue aims to present research on the role of geographic information systems (GISs) and cartography in
