the survey below by the international standards organizations (ISO/TC 211,
OGC and IHO) intends to gather information regarding the use of the
standards guide and companion documents, as well as geospatial standards
related practices within UN-GGIM member nations. The responses will inform
a review and update of the standards guide and companion documents.

Please fill in the survey and distribute to others. The survey will remain
open for a while after 30 April.

Subject: UN-GGIM Online Survey: Guide to the Role of Standards in
Geospatial Information Management

Dear Colleague,



On behalf of the Secretariat of the United Nations Committee of Experts on
Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM), with the collaboration
of the Open Geospatial Consortium, the International Organization for
Standards’ (ISO) Technical Committee 211 Geographic information/Geomatics,
and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO), we seek your support
to contribute to the next iteration of the *Guide to the Role of Standards
in Geospatial Information Management.*



Noting Decision 7/113 (d) of the 7th Session of UNGGIM, regarding the
Implementation and adoption of standards for the global geospatial
information community:



*“The Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management
welcomed the proposed survey on considering a review and update of the
standards guide and companion documents, and urged Member States to
contribute and to provide feedback on their use of the standards guide and
implementing standards within their national frameworks; “*



In support of the above resolution we now invite you to complete a survey
to assist in gathering feedback on the two documents. With this survey the
international standards organizations (ISO/TC 211, OGC and IHO) intend to
gather information regarding the use of the standards guide and companion
documents as well as geospatial standards related practices within the
member nations. The responses will inform a review and update of the
standards guide and companion documents.



To assist you with completing this survey we encourage you to consult with
those members of your organisation who have interaction with UN-GGIM
committees and working groups and those who are involved with geospatial
standards in your national context.
