Opening
BP welcomed everyone to Copenhagen and thanked SN for organizing the meeting arrangements.

Approval of agenda and appointment of secretary
The proposed agenda was approved after including ICOM '99 as an item before AOB. CS agreed to act as minutes secretary.

Minutes of previous meeting
The minutes from the previous meeting in Budapest, Hungary were agreed as a true and accurate record with the exception of the proposed start date for using then new ISOM that should have read 1st January 2000 and not 1st January 2001. The previous minutes will be corrected and re-issued.

MC Budget and Financial Status
An up to date financial status was unavailable though it was noted that a considerable amount of the budget has been spent on the ISOM test prints. BP to distribute report on the current financial status MC when received from BR.

MC Projects
ISOM 2000 – BP thanked AD and LZ for work carried out so far on ISOM. The use of an ISOM mailbox on the Internet had greatly improved dissemination of discussion material and the feedback received amongst MC members, project team members and reference group members. Some adverse comments have been received on the 'Early Warning Document' that was distributed to member Federations and mappers. The decision to publish this document had been carefully considered, it had not been a mistake to issue it. There was a necessity to inform fieldworkers early of potential changes to ISOM as they would be working on maps for the 2000 calendar, the changes outlined in the document had not been finalized.

A seminar on ISOM 2000 is to be held over the remainder of the weekend with members of the project team and reference group also attending. There is a need to finalize as much as possible during this seminar with only exceptional items considered at a later date, subject to feedback of the proposed specification at ICOM '99.

Instructor's Kit
– The work is complete though the revised OHP's produced by SN need to included. Once complete, CS will distribute copies on CD for review. The final material will be presented at ICOM'99.

A nominal charge for The Instructor's Kit should be made to cover production and distribution costs, subject to Secretariat approval it was suggested that FIM100- should be sufficient.

Reports
Foot-O – Ove Gasbjerg has been appointed the new chairperson of the Foot-O committee. The new committee structure, which has yet to be finalized, will include a number of specialist sub groups. More emphasis will be placed on the requirements of elite runners.

World Cup / Park World Tour – At a recent meeting held in Sweden it was decided not to merge the IOF World Cup series and Park World Tour (PWT). There was a co-operative atmosphere between the two groups but it was felt not to be the appropriate time. The major PWT sponsors only wish to sponsor park orienteering were more media exposure is currently possible.

This decision means that the demand on the MC to produce a specification / guideline for park / town maps is now not so urgent.

Correspondence
ISOM 2000 Early Warning Document – A letter had been received from the Australian Orienteering Federation expressing concerns. BP was pleased that Alex Tarr had travelled from Australia to attend the ISOM seminar to discuss these concerns.

ISOM 2000 Early Warning Document – A letter had been received from the British Orienteering Federation regarding the removal of the special terrain rule. BP to write to BOF following discussion at the ISOM seminar.

ICOM '99
The International Conference for Orienteering Mapping is to be held in Scotland on the 1st/2nd August 1999 in conjunction with WOC '99. The fist day will be a half-day enabling participants to compete at Highland '99 and attend the WOC '99 opening ceremony. CS to liaise with WOC '99 / BOF regarding possible accommodation / deadlines and the draft invitation. A small attendance fee will be charged, suggested GBP10-.

Any other Business
MBO – The MBO committee had agreed the rules for the discipline; the sport will be conducted on tracks etc. and not in the terrain. It had also been decided to show only two widths of track and three levels of 'cyclability'.

Date of next meeting
Proposed to hold next meeting in Inverness, Scotland on 4th August 1999.
