Map Commission's comments on maps
Middle distance finals: Taverne
No remarks to drawing and mapping quality. (Taverne won the first (and last
!!!) Swiss awards of the best Map 2005).
Accuracy: good
Generalisation: good, bare rock could be removed because no need for it in this
type of terrain
Graphic Implementation: mostly According ISOM2000, line width of contour lines
and the road network are a little bit too small
Colors: Brown and Settlement have unnecessary percentage of black (has been
removed in the color definition in 2006)
Print Techniques: 4-color offset (frequency modulated).
Paper: Pretex coated
Long distance: Arcegno
Generalisation: poor, too much stony ground, cliffs and bare rocks, which are
not necessary, --> cluttering the map
Accuracy: good
Graphic Implementation: deviation to ISOM2000
- Circle feature to small 0.64 instead 0.8
- Contour lines 0.1 instead 0.14 (problems with transfer from eps file to print
machine)
Legibility: Poor, due of poor generalisation and wrong graphic implementation
Colors: Brown and Settlement have unnecessary percentage of black (has been
removed in the color definition in 2006)
Print Techniques: 4-color offset (frequency modulated).
Paper: Pretex coated
Relay: San Bernardino
Graphic Implementation:
- deviation in size of symbols found e.g. contour lines and road- and track
network too small
- Illegal color combination: use of full yellow and green colors
Accuracy:
- in certain spots poor mapping
- minimum size of features are not followed
Colors: Brown and Settlement have unnecessary percentage of black (Has been
removed in 2006 in the color definition)
Print Techniques: 4-color offset (frequency modulated).
