• The first orienteering competitions in Bulgaria took place around Sofia - "Vitosha mountain " in 1954.Orienteering competitions were organized in Rousse,Varna and Shumen in the same year as well,and in 1955 - in Gabrovo, Lovech and Pleven.
• The first National championship held in September 1955 in Koprivshtiza . 60 competitors took part in it.
• Mala Tzarkva village was the centre of the first ski orienteering competition in 1960
• In 1961 - the first National ski orienteering championship
• 1961 - Bulgaria is one of first founder countries of IOF in in the I -st congress in Denmark
• 1965 - Bulgaria was a host - country of III -d congress of IOF IN "Kamchia" - resort
• In 1994 VII - th congres held in " St .Konstantin and Elena " - resort.
• Bulgaria was a organiser of two World ski - orienteering championsips -II-nd in 1977 and VI - th in 1986.
• In 1995 Ski-orienteering Cup took place in Beglika
• In February 1972 BFO organized the first ski - orienteering championship - IPSOL
• In 1977 - three - day foot - orienteering cup was organized - " Bulgaria cup" .From 1982 till 1990
• It was five - day cup, and then a three - day cup again
• 1969 - First foot - orienteering marathon in Troian
• 1981 - First five day university championship
