The IOF Map Commission welcomes you to the 9th International Conference on Orienteering Mapping that will take place in conjunction with the World Orienteering Championships in Tampere, Finland. The conference has become a traditional biennial event where map makers from around the world discuss and share information about the latest mapping standards, techniques and developments in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
We are convinced that the 9th ICOM will live up to the successes of its predecessors. The programm has been arranged to make it possible for you to take part in the public races and attend the WOC opening ceremony.
Once again, the IOF Map Commission welcomes you to Tampere, Finland and we look forward to meeting you there.

PROGRAMME

The conference will take place in Tampere Hall, Yliopistonkatu 55 in the centre of Tampere, close to the WOC centre and the WOC opening ceremony. The conference programme has yet to be finalized, though the main theme will be

• Guideline to map generalisation
• Mapping and tracking with GPS
• Sprint-O map specifications
• Map printing.

Should any participant wish to make a small presentation at the conference could they provide a brief synopsis with their registration (preferably by 10th July 2001 ).

APPLICATION AND FEES

The participation fee is 100 FM (Finnish marks) which should be paid upon registration. Applications deadline is 20th July 2001 and should be either sent by mail or e-mail to:
