Scales for Foot-O

• 1:15 000 is the normal scale for Foot-O maps
• Enlargements at 1:10 000 scale may be used for:
  • relay
  • short distance
  • older age groups
  • younger age groups
• Larger scales may be used for educational purposes

Maps in 1:10 000 are enlargements of maps at 1:15 000.

• No more objects
• Same level of generalization
• The majority of screens retain 1:15 000 specifications

• Format of a competition map should not be larger than A3
• Terrain which cannot be legibly represented at 1:15 000 is not suitable for international orienteering
