ICA Commission on Education and Training
Joint workshop with ICA Commission on Maps and the Internet
Presented at Universidade Federal do Paraná, Departamento de Geomática
Curitiba, Brasil 20-21 August 2015
All are encouraged to make travel plans in August 2015 which include the pre-conference joint workshop of the Commissions on Education & Training, and Maps & the Internet. The main International Cartographic Conference will take place in Rio de Janeiro from 23-28 August 2015. The joint workshop will be presented in a more informal environment in the university city of Curitiba from 20-21 August 2015.
The draft programme is available below. It can be seen that the workshop is a valuable mix of practical hands-on classes and presentations detailing, research and experiences at the interface between the web and the classroom.
This meeting presents an opportunity for cartographers from Brasil, and those from around the world to
discuss and present developments at the interface between contemporary internet technologies and current educational
practice. It will be held at the Federal University of Parana (a progressive, hi-tech, institution with an excellent
reputation for cartographic education). Commission members, professors Claudia Robbi Sluter and Maria Brandalise from the
Department of Geomatics will host this meeting in their home institution.
Onward travel to the ICC in Rio de Janeiro will be easy.
You can register for this workshop at the dedicated web site www.cartografia.ufpr.br.
It will be noted that there is no registration fee. Travel and hotel arrangements will have to be organised by yourself, but there is advice and information about these aspects on the web site. Note that there are other ICA Commission meetings being held simultaneously, so please ensure that you register for the correct event.
